Available for Adoption

Creole - Florida

Creole was rescued from a Louisiana shelter, along with his mama (Gingersnap) and his brothers and sisters. Creole was born on February 9 (2009), so he's a little over 4 months old. He weighs just a bit over 8 pounds, so we think Creole will probably be 16 to 19 pounds when fully grown. Creole is completely paper trained and working on house-breaking. He has learned to use a doggie door, and mostly tries to potty outside. Creole has not started crate training yet, but will in the next few weeks. He plays nicely with his siblings and is generally respectful of the adult dogs here. He is used to living with cats, but not children (though he should do just fine in a family with kids). Creole is hoping for a family of his own who likes to spend lots of time going walkies and playing with all kinds of toys. He would like a K-9 brother or sister in his forever home, but thinks being an only dog might not be too bad either. Romeo - New York

My name is Mr. Romeo Ratbone and I'm approximately 2 years old. I was rescued from a shelter in NY after my first family turned me in because they were moving to an apartment that didn't allow pets. Lucky for me my fosterMom came along and saved me, and now I'm looking for my new Forever home. My fosterMom doesn't think I'm a purebred Rattie - she might be right too; I think I may have some Chihuahua in me. I'm really good about letting her know when I have to go out and do my business, plus I don't take long at all doing it either. I was a little skinny when she brought me home and I thought she was going to swipe my food every time she put it out for me; I finally realized that no one was going to take it, and now I take my time to chew my food. I can be crated, but I'm currently hanging out in a playpen - which I really like going back into after I go for my walk and eat my food! I was a little timid at first, and I am still not all that crazy about my fosterDad when he comes to my playpen (whether my fosterMom is home or not), but once I'm loose in the house I love, love to be petted by both my foster parents, and sit in between them while they watch TV. I like to play with my toys, can answer to my name, and I know how to walk on a leash. I probably will do best in a home with children over the age of 12, and as the only pet. Do you think you can help me find my forever home? To see more pictures of me http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLanding.action?c=c6zb06p.5225h9b9&x=0&y=li839v&localeid=en_US

Marlee - Florida
Are you looking for an affectionate, fun-loving companion who will shower you with love and kisses? Look no further! I’m the 2 year old beauty you are looking for! I’m right here in the Tampa Bay area of Florida. My hobbies are hunting, playing, going for walks, cuddling and chewing on my bones. My foster parents are wonderful but I am looking for a permanent place to move my bed and toys. I’ve been living with them since January and it’s been quite interesting for them and me! I came to them HW+ and they took me right to the Vet so I could get well. I surprised them a few weeks later with a puppy (he was hiding up under my ribs and nobody realized he was there!). My baby is adopted now. I live with 4 other Rat Terriers, but they are all much older than me and don’t seem to want to play the way I do. I get along with all of them. I love to eat and dinner time is my favorite time of the day. I like to go on long walks and I usually do much better when I don’t have to walk with the pack. I enjoy my alone time on my walks! I like riding in the car and going to new places. If you are interested in me please fill out an adoption application. I just want a home I can call my own…forever. Sincerely, Marlee Malone Ratbone

Available for Adoption

Tessi - Georgia

Tessi is a purebred Rat Terrier who is 8 years old. She was put in a Tennessee shelter when her owners became financially unable to care for her. When she first arrived at her foster home she was fearful and confused, but has settled in very quickly and is now cheerful and ready to play with the resident ratties. Her favorite place to be is in a lap or lying by your side. She chooses a tennis ball to play with over all the other toys. She hasn't mastered the doggie door yet, but has not had one potty accident since coming into foster care. Tessi sleeps in a crate all night without a peep. She is frightened of thunderstorms (some of them can be very scary). Tessi weighs 17.6 pounds and could stand to lose about 3 or 4 of those pounds. She is a very gracious, sweet and affectionate lady who is looking for a loving family to spend her later years with. Would you open your heart and home to this dear sweet soul? If so, please appy for Tessi.... you will not be disappointed.

Available for Adoption

Tehya - Florida

Tehya is a Native America word meaning Precious, and this 4 month old little girl is definitely a Precious Dawlin' (dawlin': southern for "darling")! She was dumped at a rabies control center as a baby, barely old enough to leave her Momma. She was saved one day before she was due to be gassed. She gives many thanks to Ratbone Rescues for saving her and giving her a chance at the life she deserves. This little girl has a long tail and a long, slinky body. She may be a mix of Rat Terrier and Dachshund. She is piddle pad trained and is learning to use a doggie door. She is learning about walking on a leash and should never be walked without one. Tehya is bouncy and fun loving, and is one curious little girl that has to stick her nose in where ever she can. She would love a fenced yard where she can play all day. If she had her way she would be outside all the time, but this is not a good thing. Sometimes you have to make her come in to cool off and get water - she loves the outdoors so much. She is learning the commands of "stop", "stay", "leave it", "drop it" and "sit". She does very well with "leave it" and "drop it", but is still trying to master the rest. Little Tehya has brought so much laughter to her foster family and fits in very well with her foster siblings. She is being crate trained but would prefer sleeping with her people. She often cons her fosterDad into letting her sleep with him. Tehya does very well with other dogs and does not bother cats. She likes to nibble on fingers so a home with toddlers may not be the best fit for her, though older children should be fine. Her foster parents always give her a Nylabone to take the place of fingers or anything inappropriate that she may chew on. She has never chewed on shoes or clothes. Tehya is waiting patiently on her Forever home. Are you the special someone that wants a loving lap dog to spend time with? Tehya will love you with all of her little heart. Can you give her the same love she will give to you? If so please apply today, a little one as precious as this little girl won’t be around long! Available for Adoption

Loolie Coolie - New York

Please meet Loolie Coolie! She's about 2-3 years old and is a beautiful, standard size Ratty - between 22-25 pounds (she needs to gain a few, she's still a bit thin) - with possible Decker in her! Loolie was saved from a gassing shelter in Ohio with her daughter, Kimmie, right before their time was up! Loolie is a very SWEET soul!! She settled into her foster home without a skipping a beat; it was like she'd been there forever. Loolie gets along GREAT well with other dogs and should probably have a canine brother or sister in her forever home, because she really loves to play. She's extremely affectionate and loves to give kisses! Since we don't think Loolie had a name before she came into rescue she is still learning recall, but she's doing great. She loves being outside and needs a safely-secured, fenced-in yard. Loolie is leash-trained and keeps a clean crate all day. Her fostermom has been told she is NOT good with cats. We are unsure how she is with children, but she's such a gentle soul that her fostermom can't imagine that she wouldn't be good with them. Loolie is a GREAT girl and will make a super addition to any family! Please give Loolie somewhere safe and warm to place her coolie!!

Available for Adoption

Mi Corazon - Arizona

Mi Corazon came from a hoarding situation where she lived in a trailer with almost 70 other dogs. Her owner became ill and hospitalized, so the authorites stepped in and Ratbone Rescues was able to find her and many other dogs foster homes until forever homes are found for them. Mi Corazon or "Mia" for short is a 10 pound bundle of energy and happiness. We named her Mi Corazon because she has a heart shape marking on her right side. If you look in the dictionary under "cute", you will find a picture of Mia. She is just adorable, and loves playing with other dogs and giving lots and lots of kisses to humans. She is a major cuddler. We are not sure how she is with cats yet but she has such a friendly personality she may be fine with them too. Because of her background Mia is not housebroken yet, but she is very smart and we expect her to catch on quickly. Mia is only 1.5 years old and should have many, many loving years of fun and love to give her new forever home. Mia has a photo album http://imageevent.com/rattiemom/micorazon

Avaiable for Adoption

Mr. Peebo - Maryland

Mr Peebo was turned in to a shelter a few years back and rescued by Ratbone. He found a loving home who kept him until their recent divorce, whan he found himself out of a home again. Peebo is now back in foster care where he is such a good boy. He is 8 years old and weighs abot 20 pounds (he's just a bit "stout"). Besides a little marking at first - showing off to the other boys - while getting the potty schedule thing down, he has been a charm to foster. He is a little "attention hound" for sure - always wanting to receive and give affection. Peebo gets along with adults, children and other dogs. He is not fond of small animals (squirrels, mice, etc) or cats, wanting to run them off his domain outside.
