Available For Adoption

Sammy (NY)
Please meet Sammy from Alabammy!! Sammy and his brother Sawyer were saved from a high kill shelter in Alabama, and transported up to New York. Sammy is a beautiful red sable and white boy, about 10 pounds (needs to gain a few) and is estimated to be between 9 months old and a year and a half. He hasn't had any accidents in the house, and does go potty outside. He's very shy and timid at first, but soon opens up, but remains very submissive. He's very loving and playful. He gets along well with other dogs, as he lives with 6 other Ratties in his fosterhome! He met some children when his brother was dropped off at his fosterhome, and he did well with them, also, but we're not sure about cats.... He is learning house manners and responds well to commands such as "down", "drop it" and "no". Sammy's fostermom believes Sammy and his brother were kept outside for most of their lives. Sammy sleeps in bed with his fostermom and other fosterbrothers and sisters at night, and is cratetrained during the day. So far, Sammy seens to be an awesome boy and will make a great companion and will probably do better with a fenced-in yard and a brother or sister!! Please check for updates on Sammy as his fostermom becomes more familiar with him!

Available For Adoption

Scotty (VA)
Scotty is a 1 year old Tri-colored Rattie with lots of energy. He loves to wrestle with his best friend and loves other animals of all sizes. He was kept in a crate when his owner became terminally ill and no one had time for him, thus his fur is stained and will take time to come in clean and white. He is lacking in social skills and working on house training. However, he more than makes up for this in the cuddle department. He will be a wonderful companion with anyone that can make the time to teach him what a family is all about. We recommend older children only, as he has had no experience and is very nervous around things he doesn’t know. He will thrive with routine and someone to spend time with him. Give him a chance and you will never regret it.

Available For Adoption

Rowdy (PA)
Rowdy is a small tri-colored male, about 5 years old. He came to his Foster Mom very neglected, sick and scared. Currently Rowdy weighs 8 pounds, but we are working very hard to put a couple more pounds on him. He is a little gentleman - very sweet - and loves everyone. Rowdy even goes to work with his Foster Dad. He is crate-trained and gets along great with the other 5 dogs in his foster home. We're working on house breaking this little boy. He does well on a schedule, resulting in no accidents in the house.

Available For Adoption

Maizy (OR)
Maizy is a gentle, sweet little dog who was abused and abandoned in Moscow, Idaho. Her savior got her vet care and transported her to Ratbone Rescues in Oregon so she would be safe. Maizy is about 4 years old and at one time she must have been well cared for, as she has very nice manners, is house broken, knows "Sit", and is an expert at begging for treats. Maizy weighs 13 pounds, but should be about 12 pounds. In the month that Maizy has been in rescue, she has blossomed. Although still cautious and fearful, she seeks out cuddles and loves Lap Time. Maizy would not do well in a super busy home. She is especially fearful of men, but has learned to like the man in her foster home. She will even let him cuddle her on his lap. Maizy is great with other dogs, and is fine with children - unless they chase her, and then she hides. Maizy is totally non-aggressive. She is a wonderfully appealing little girl who is never far from her foster mom. If you want a sweet tempered, adorable little companion, this is the one.

Queen Belle Ratbone (PA)

Hi, I am Queenie Belle Ratbone! I am around 2 years old and weigh about 13 pounds. I'm a little shy but warm up quickly! I love to cuddle and give and receive kisses! My foster mom says she is impressed that I have not had an accident yet. She is here with me all the time so she makes sure I am out on a regular schedule! I have a foster doggie brother. We get along fine as long as he knows I am the "Queen" of the house. I even get along with the cat! I can't forget the kid's in the house that like to give me love. The youngest is 4. I think I would even love younger kids as long as they are gentle with me. I am also working on liking my crate. My foster mom has a wire one that I don't mind but the travel crates kind of scare me. I like to be able to look all around me! I hope you will take me home to live with you! I promise to love you my whole life! You can see more pics of me at http://s569.photobucket.com/albums/ss134/RRFOSTERMOM

Ruby (NJ)

Ruby weighs 13 pounds, is "blue" and white, and is 9 years young. She is good with older children. Ruby is house trained, but may have an accident if not made to go out in the rain. While she is not crate trained, she is trained to stay in a gated off room at night. Does not ask to be let out if she has to go. Ruby is great on a leash and will do her business while walking on a leash. As wonderful as she is, Ruby can be a little aggressive with other dogs in her home; she is territorial and wants to dominate. We feel that Ruby would be happiest as an only dog that can be truly adored for all her cuteness and spunkiness. She is very energetic and still acts like a puppy at times, but loves to lay next to her family members when they are on the couch or in the reading chair. Note: This dog is a"Guardian Assistance Placement" dog, meaning he/she is being cared forin a home that is not affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has suppliedvet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibilityto rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannototherwise vouch for any of the information provided.

Princess Cali (CA)

Introducing Princess Cali! She is a petite little princess, only about 10 inches tall and weighing only 10 pounds. Princess Cali came to Ratbone from terrible conditions where she was treated much like a puppy mill dog. Despite her past, Princess Cali has acclimated to her foster home very quickly and she now runs and plays in the yard with her foster siblings, eats with them, and comes up to her foster mom for lovin'. At first, Princess Cali was afraid of everything, but after 5 months in foster care she now can be picked up and also likes to jump up into the lap of her foster mom before any of her foster siblings can. She loves to sit and curl up next to her foster mom and watch TV, and LOVES to snuggle under the covers at night. She is a good little watch dog, always alerting when someone is at the door. She is very playful with her foster siblings and gets along well with cats. She uses a doggie door, but she does have an occasional accident - though she is making improvements every day. She is now learning to walk on leash and although it is very scary out there, she is making progress every day. She would not do well in a home with young children. She would love to have a canine friend as she loves to play, but she is now at the point where she really needs her own person willing and able to give her lots of attention. She really wants to make up for lost time and she deserves it! She will need someone that is understanding of her needs and will be willing to let her warm up to them and give them all of the love she has. For more photos of Princess Cali please go to http://imageevent.com/rattiemom/princesscaliinca .

Petey In Virginia
I'm Petey Ratbone! I am quite the handsome fellow and am 3.5 years old. I weigh in at 11.5 pounds, but could stand to shed a few pounds. My foster mom has me on a feeding schedule (I was free feeding before) and she swears I already look more svelte! I do very well in a crate. I also walk very well on a leash. I do great with children, dogs, and cats. I love anyone that will let me cuddle up next to them. I have not made one mistake in the house since coming to live with my foster mom. I am a very calm and loving guy. I like to play, and I play very well with the other dogs in my foster home, but most of the time I just like to lay next to my humans. I would love to find a home where I can sleep in bed with my humans and show them how much love I have to give. My foster mom says I am the perfect guy for just about any home. If you're looking for a well behaved loving guy that is eager to please - then I'm your man!

Available For Adoption

Kizzy Taylor In Virginia
Hi! I'm Kizzy Taylor Ratbone...you can call me Kizzy! I was named Kizzy because I have a little "kissy spot" on the top of my head. I am a young girl, probably only 6 to 12 months! I love to play with toys and wrestle with my foster siblings. Can you believe I was surrendered to a shelter and almost euthanized?? I am about 17 pounds of pure snuggles! I love belly rubs and curling up as close to my foster parents as possible. I'm also a pro at giving kisses! I am working really hard on not pottying in the house, and I think I'm getting it! I am also learning how to walk on a leash. I am a good girl in my crate, but am ready to run the Rattie 500 when I'm let out! I am a very happy girl who loves people and just wants to be loved in return. If you would like to see more pictures of me please to to http://imageevent.com/rattiemom/kizzylaceratbone to see my album.

Tink In Wisconsin

Tink is a 5 year old sweet soul who was rescued from a large puppymill that was closed down in Wisconsin. Every week she comes out of her shell a little bit more. Tink is about 15 pounds, good with children, and friendly with other dogs. She doesn't seem to be prey driven. Tink is fearful of men but her fosterDad is working with her and she's getting better. She is pretty good with her housebreaking and goes to the door to go out. Tink has had a few accidents but it's been very cold in her state this winter. She loves to sit next to you but also likes to sit in her own space at times or with other dogs. Tink will need an owner with a little patience to give her time at first to open up; seeing the look in her eyes when she learns to trust you will make it all worth it! Will you give this sweetheart a forever home after all she's been through? To see more pictures of Tink please go to http://share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0QbMXLVqyZMWIf

CongRATulations !!!

The following Ratboners have been approved for adoption:

Ross in Florida

Katie in Florida

Jacques in New York

Freddy in California

Bonnie in Oregon

Riley

Dove in Florida

Available for Adoption

Hi - I'm Jolie Ratbone from Virginia. I'm 8 pounds of pure energy! I am a young girl, estimated to be about 1 year old. I LOVE to play but I love my snuggle time too. I do well in my crate although it does take me a few minutes to settle down. I have only made a few potty mistakes in the house. As long as someone takes me outside on a regular schedule, I do just fine. I am best friends with my two Rat Terrier siblings, Batman and Blondie. We love to chase each other around the yard. I would do best in a home with a fenced in back yard - as I really do love to run free. I also do really well with my human foster brother; he's 16 months old. I like to jump so my foster mom has been working with me on the "down" command and I'm doing better every day. I also LOVE to give lots and lots of kisses. If you're ready for a little girl with lots of energy and love to share, then ask about me, Jolie, on your application!

Available For Adoption

Meet Gromit in California! Gromit is a very loving and playful dog who loves to play fetch in the house and curl up right next to people. He is obedient to basic commands such as "sit", "come", "stay", "down", and "heel." He loves to go on long walks and has the endurance to last for at least a 2 mile run!

Gromit loves to eat almost anything, and sometimes doesn't know his limits; he is on a strict diet to prevent the formation of bladder stones. Gromit can be a loud barker, especially when he sees unfamiliar dogs walk by his home. He currently lives in a condo, with access to a balcony and a potty pad for mid-day potty breaks. He is crate trained, and sleeps the night through there. Gromit is a very good dog, and will make an excellent companion for a family that has time and attention to give him

Note: This dog is a "Guardian Assistance Placement" dog, meaning he/she is being cared for in a home that is not affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has supplied vet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibility to rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannot otherwise vouch for any of the information provided.

MySpace Volunteer of the Month

A Ratbone volunteer maintains a MySpace page for the organization (http://www.myspace.com/ratbonerescue) much like a volunteer maintains this blog. Each month the MySpace page honors a volunteer for their tireless work and dedication to Rat Terriers in need. This month the Volunteer ofthe Month is...............

The Ratbone Myspace Volunteer of the Month for February is the HappyTail Team : Diane U., Rachel S., and Julie D. We don't typically do a whole team, but they have all come together and done a slam up job. We were missing the privilege of knowing how our pups were doing after adoption. Thanks to all three of you for stepping up and filling this much needed position.

The Happy Tails team is the folks who call adopters to follow up on how they and their new doggie are adapting. Sometimes they need additional information regarding training, feeding, etc. and sometimes they give us wonderful, humerous stories. Often they give us a love story!
