Available For Adoption

Ace in California
Ace is a beautiful tri-colored, 3 year old rattie that is about 15 inches tall, weighing 15 pounds. Ace was surrendered to Ratbone about 6 months ago and is one of the worst cases of isolation and neglect that Ratbone has seen. Poor Ace was much like a puppy mill dog when he entered foster care; he was frightened of everything, including dogs, cats, grass, loud noises, and especially humans. When he first came into foster care, poor Ace was literally frozen with fear. After 2 months of struggling, his foster mom decided to put him on an anti-anxiety medication and happily, he is now starting to show some signs of progress. Ace had never known human touch or kindness nor did he know that humans could be gentle and loving – until he met his foster mom that is! While it has taken his foster mom 6 months to get him to trust her, he is finally started on the road to recovery – thanks in part to his medication and the support of his foster mom. Ace is good on a leash and gets along with all of the dogs and cats he lives with, but is still very leery of strangers. He is not quite potty trained but is getting better every day. Due to his special needs, Ace would NOT do well in a home with kids or in a loud and busy household. Ace needs a forever home that is quiet and calm, with a special person who will take the time to gain his trust and teach him how to enjoy the world around him. Ace’s special needs will require a very special owner that is willing to give more than they receive – at least at first. Ace is just starting to ask for affection. He loves to have his face and ears rubbed and has just started to play – running around the house with the other Ratties. For Ace, these are all new concepts. If you are a special person who has lots of love and patience to give to a very special boy, Ace is the boy for you. All he needs is love, time, and a lot of understanding. http://imageevent.com/rattiemom/aceinca

Toby in Florida
Toby is a 6 year old girl who weighs 17 pounds. She was surrendered to rescue by her owners. Toby is very sweet, loves to kiss, and is a real "talker" - especially when saying Good Morning. So far Toby has shown that she isn't happy about living with her two foster-dog brothers (a Rattie and a yellow lab); she was an only dog all her life. She is wary of the 16 year old boy who lives in her foster home - though we're not sure why. Toby loves to run, jump and chase things like most Ratties. She is crate trained and will go in her crate on her own when she wants a little "me time". Toby sleeps each night in the crate next to her foster parent's bed with no problems. She has had some "accidents " in the house, but understands "let's go out", and runs for the door when she's told to. Toby doesn't mind being in her crate during the day, but prefers to have a person close by. She was very skittish and nervous the first few days after she arrived, but she's getting better with time. Toby likes being outside with her fosterDad, but likes to come back in as soon as she's finished with her "business".

Jujubee in Florida

Jujubee was born around January 15, 2009. Her Mama is a Rat Terrier/Dachshund mix. Her Papa was probably a Chihuahua. Jujubee looks more "Rattie" than her sisters, having longer legs and a Terrier face. She weighs about 3.5 pounds now, and is getting her second booster shot next week. Jujubee will be spayed around April 7th, and ready for her new home by April 11-15th. Jujubee and her sisters are all paper trained. They are sweet, affectionate little puppies - looking for families who will not only love them, but will also teach them how to be good puppies and adult dogs. Harry In South Carolina

Harry was born on 5/31/08, is 10 months old and weighs 14 pounds. He is a black tri-color, very handsome boy with beautiful markings. Harry was given up by his previous owner, and seems nervous of some larger dogs. He loves to play ball, with play with toys (especially tug of war), and loves to run in the yard. Harry is very energetic, so he might do better with dogs who are as energetic as he is. He loves to go for walks, and is doing well for a 10 month old - but could a bit more training and practice. Harry will bolt out the door, but his fostermom is teaching him to sit before the door is opened. He will need some obedience training, being strong-minded and intelligent. He already knows the sit command, and his fostermom thinks he might make a good agility prospect! Harry is basically housetrained as long as you let him out on schedule. He's also crate trained. Harry met the two neighbor children (around 10 years old), and he was very good with them. He seems to love everyone he meets, and is a very sweet and loving boy.

Note: This dog is a"Guardian Assistance Placement" dog, meaning he/she is being cared forin a home that is not affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has suppliedvet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibilityto rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannototherwise vouch for any of the information provided.

January Jack in Maine

Hi, I’m January Jack. My friends just call me Jack. I’m about 16-18 pounds and 6 years old. I need a new home because my family moved very far away. I love to watch TV, and actually get quite involved with dogs and other animals that come on; I try to talk to them and make friends or scare them away!! I am very well mannered most of the time, and I'm completely housebroken. I don’t get in the trash, or pick at your toys either (I have some of my own). I really don’t like loud noises, stereos, or being startled, and sometimes I bark at them. I get a bit unnerved and will go find my blanket and stay put. I'd love to cuddle under the covers with you, though I’d prefer not to be moved when I'm napping - even though my fostermom does it all the time. I'll love to listen to you talk to me and will give you all sorts of expressions, as I truly do have a clue what you are saying. My foster brothers and sister are kind of fun; I can play with the Husky/Shepherd, and play keep away with the ones of my own size. Cats are not my favorite animals and I’d prefer a home without one. The rest of the time I am relaxed and want to play with my new Mom or Dad. I guess I’d like to be the only dog and the apple of your eye. Loud and playful kids could scare me too but that depends upon how we end up getting to know each other. My foster mom says that I have cute ears and engaging eyes and for the most part I am a very good and loveable boy! Jack

Brodie in Virginia

Hi there, I'm Bodie Ratbone! I am quite the handsome 4 year old young man, and weigh in at 15 pounds. I've made a few mistakes in the house since being with my foster mom, but I tried letting her know (she just didn't let me out fast enough). I do well in my crate while my foster mom is gone at work during the day. I would prefer to be the only dog or live in a home with a submissive dog because I like to be the "boss". I get along with the dogs in my foster home, but since I like to be "boss" that could be a problem with a strongly "alpha" dog. Also, because I tend to be a little "bossy" I would probably do better in a home with older children only. But don't let my bossiness fool you - I am a VERY sweet little guy, and will make someone a wonderful companion. My foster mom tells me how handsome I am ALL the time and I think it's gone to my head a little bit. If you're looking for a handsome young man that will give you all the love you can handle, then ask about me, Bodie, on your application.

Morticia (FL)
Morticia is a breeder dog that was taken to the pound by her owners. She is between 3 and 4 years old, and weighs 12 pounds. Morticia ignores our cats but is good with other dogs. She is crate trained and house broken. Morticia is scared of new people and will hide under the couch or bed when she feels threatened. She is a sweet dog that loves attention and loves to run and play. She's just coming out of her shell and needs a loving, caring home and someone that is willing to take time with her until she blossoms. Are you the right person for sweet Morticia?

Honey Biskit (FL)

Honey was surrendered to a Florida shelter by her owners, who were no longer able to care for her. She is 9 years young, and weighs 15 pounds. Honey gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, and ignores the kitties. She would be fine with older children (over 6 years), but probably not with toddlers. Honey loves her big green pillow, and likes to burrow under her blankie for naps. She is very playful with the young puppy in her foster home, and loves to hang out in the back yard on a sunny day. She is housebroken and crate trained, and walks on a leash well - with just a bit of pulling. Honey has some skin issues, which our vet is working to resolve. To see more photos of Honey, visit http://imageevent.com/rattiemom/honeybiskit

Honey Biskit is looking for a family that can appreciate her lovely ears and her loyal nature.

Available For Adoption

Mabel (OK)
Mabel came to Ratbone Rescues after her owner passed away. She just turned 7 years old on February 6th, and weighs between 15 and 20 pounds. Her home for the last 5 months has been a crate, so she is not fond of them. Mable is a calm dog, does not jump at noises, loves to be petted and to have her belly rubbed. Mable does not appear to be a lap dog; when you stop petting her she moves to her own chair. She is house trained if kept on a schedule, and barks very little. Mable sleeps by herself, curled up in the rocker (her choice), loves to go for walks in the park, and to chase around the yard. Mabel does not play with toys. She is playful with the neighbor’s dog and the young children (3 & 4 year olds). Mable Just Wants Someone To Love!!! For access to her photo album please go to http://ImageEvent.com/rattiemom/mabel

Sawyer (NY)Sawyer came from a shelter in Alabama, along with his brother (Sammy). He weighs about 9 pounds, but definitely will put on another 2-3 pounds, as he was very thin. He was estimated to be about 1 to 2 years old, but his puppy-like behavior makes him seem more like just 1 year old. Sawyer is a gorgeous sable and white. He fit right in with his 2 new foster brothers and seems to get a long with all dogs, kids (he lives with 4 right now) and adults. Sawyer likes to follow his fostermom around like a shadow wherever she goes! He is almost fully house-trained, with only an occasional accident if you aren't watching. Sawyer loves to play and sleeps in his crate at night. He is working on manners, and is picking things up every day. Sawyer is a very loving, sweet boy who is just looking for a place to call home.

CongRATulations !!!
