Hank Junior - South Carolina

A true son of the South and a "River Rat", Hank Junior hails from rural Lancaster County (South Carolina), near the beautiful and winding Catawba River. Hank Junior weighs between 17 and 18 pounds and is extremely well socialized. When his foster-parents picked him up from the Lancaster County Animal Shelter, parolled Hank did not hesitate and made a bee line to their waiting car. "HJ" is also a very lively and energetic dog, and would do well with either a fenced back yard or frequent walks. Hank is a very enthusiastic young dog, maybe between a year and a half and two years old. He has a lovely, streamlined form, the bouncing gait common to Ratties, a shiny coat, and marvelous, dancing eyes. It is a treat to watch him race across a backyard; he can absolutely FLY! When Hank is curious or alerted, those famous Rat Terrier ears perk up. Hank was surrendered to the animal shelter by his previous owner because they were not able to continue to care for him. Nonetheless, a country boy can survive, and Hank has prospered despite his difficulties. Hank does well with cats and is friendly with female doggies, but takes time to warm up to the boys. He loves the outdoors and would make an excellent companion for someone who enjoys a loving boy with tons of energy and affection. My name is Abbott! I was born in April 2008 and weigh about 15 pounds. I'm an exceptionally happy boy, and love to play with the toys and the other dogs at my foster home. I get along great with all of the other dogs at my foster home and am not bothered by the cats either. I enjoy people of all ages. I also enjoy having a bone to chew on. I'm even learning that I can spend time on the couch with my foster mom. I have done very well in the house with regular potty breaks. I am crate trained, and keep it clean. Bucke Rucke (North Carolina)

Bucke has been in rescue since March 6, 2009. He was an owner surrender. Bucke loves kids, gets along with other dogs and knows no strangers. We don't know about cats. Bucke is very vocal; he loves to talk to his people. The only thing we are having to work on right now is his desire to mark in the house, but with supervision he does really well. He loves attention and gives the sweetest kisses.

Daphne ( South Carolina)

Daphne Dupuy was rescued from a shelter in Louisiana that euthanizes by gassing. Ratbone Rescues could not allow this, as Daphne is one terribly sweet dog. She is a beautiful, ten month old Border Rat, or Border Collie/Rat Terrier mix, weighing in at 29 pounds. She is extremely clever and well socialized. She loves to play with toys and loves to be with the special people in her life. She could run and frolic all day, but she does know how to calm down, takes basic cues quickly. She also walks well on a leash. Daphne found the dog door herself on the first day in her foster home, and knew instinctively what it was for. She gets along very well with other dogs, but is frightened of the cat; she will approach, as she is very inquisitive, but then will whine and run in the other direction. Lady (Pennsylvania)

Lady is a 5 to 6 year old female Rat Terrier who came into rescue due to the death of her owner. She is slightly overweight at about 18 pounds, but her foster family is working on bringing her weight down a bit. Lady is a very affectionate and sweet girl with a great personality who loves everyone she meets, and for the most part she is pretty laid back. She enjoys her people and will follow you around as you move from room to room. Lady is housebroken but is not fully trustworthy if left alone in the house, so she should be crated when you leave.

Harry In South Carolina

Harry was born on 5/31/08, is 10 months old and weighs 14 pounds. He is a black tri-color, very handsome boy with beautiful markings. Harry was given up by his previous owner, and seems nervous of some larger dogs. He loves to play ball, with play with toys (especially tug of war), and loves to run in the yard. Harry is very energetic, so he might do better with dogs who are as energetic as he is. He loves to go for walks, and is doing well for a 10 month old - but could a bit more training and practice. Harry will bolt out the door, but his fostermom is teaching him to sit before the door is opened. He will need some obedience training, being strong-minded and intelligent. He already knows the sit command, and his fostermom thinks he might make a good agility prospect! Harry is basically housetrained as long as you let him out on schedule. He's also crate trained. Harry met the two neighbor children (around 10 years old), and he was very good with them. He seems to love everyone he meets, and is a very sweet and loving boy.

The guardian has suppliedvet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibilityto rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannototherwise vouch for any of the information provided.
